This week we go to Jackson, Mississippi for the Sanderson Farms Championship. The Country Club of Jackson is a par 72 course playing around 7460 yards with winners approaching -20 in what can turn into a putting contest. It’s a slightly improved field this week led by favorites Scottie Scheffler (+1100), Sungjae Im (+1600), Will Zalatoris (+2000), Sam Burns (+2800), Doc Redman (+3000) and defending champion Sebastian Munoz (+3000). Other notables in the field this week include Byeong Hun An (+3300), Brian Harman (+3500), Henrik Stenson (+4500), Cam Davis (+5000) and Sergio Garcia (+6600).
Just like last week, these low scoring events are going to favor strokes gained tee to green and strokes gained putting. This will align with the high percentage birdie or better players as well. While it’s not going to play overly long, driving distance will be big a advantage for guys who can bomb it to help gain strokes in par 5 scoring.
DFS Quick Picks
Doc Redman $9,700 – Redman finished 3rd at the Safeway Open two week’s ago at -18 with a final round 62. He finished gaining .616 per round off the tee, 1.932 on approach, -.607 around the green and .694 putting. Prior to the Safeway, Redman missed the cut at the Northern Trust, T3 (-18) at the Wyndham Championship and T29 (-3) at the PGA Championship. Redman was a little short off the tee last season (297.4 yds/drive) but he was very accurate at 68.27% (13th on tour) and his irons were great at .584 strokes gained approach (11th). He’s was also 14th on tour in par 4 birdie or better percentage and finished 52nd here last year.
Henrik Stenson $8,900 – The 44 year old Stenson hasn’t won a tournament since 2017 (Wyndham Championship), but he’s still one of the most talented players in the field (44 official world golf ranking) and coming off a solid T21 (-9) at the Corales Puntacana with all four rounds under par. He only played in 5 events in the 2019-2020 season so not much to go off there but had seven top 20 finishes in just 15 events in 2018-2019. Stenson is a bit short off the tee but that’s due to his reliance on 3-wood off the tee which means a bit more accuracy. He’s a great iron player and has won on the PGA Tour and Euro Tour so if the putter gets going, he could have another nice finish.
Cameron Davis $8,100 – Cam Davis finished T36 at the Safeway Open two weeks ago, gaining .461 strokes off the tee and .845 strokes on approach per round. He gained across the board in the 2019-2020 season even if he didn’t pop in any particular category. Davis is long at 308 yards/drive, 14th on tour at 24.04% birdie or better, and 21st in par 5 scoring (4.55). He’s made five cuts in a row and finished 28th (-9) at Sanderson Farms last year.
Xinjun Zhang $8,000 – I liked Zhang last week at $8,400 and like him again at $8,000 this week coming off a T11 (-11) at the Corales Puntacana that included a final round 74. Zhang also had a 14th place finish at the Safeway Open two weeks ago where he gained .295 off the tee, 1.194 SG Approach, -.048 Around the green and .445 SG Putting. Last season on the tour he made just 13 of 25 cuts but that did include three top 10 finishes. He didn’t lose strokes in any category for the 2020 season and is top 12 in the field in birdie or better percentage. Zhang is a little short off the tee at 294 yards/drive and will make some bogeys, but his consistent game should bode well in another pretty weak field. He finished 60th here last year.
Chesson Hadley $7,800 – Hadley finished T14 (-15) at the Safeway two starts ago and T51 (+18) at the US Open in his most recent start a couple weeks ago. He was great across the board at the Safeway but like a lot of guys had a tougher week at the US Open. Hadley was 9th on tour in birdie or better percentage last season, 20th in GIR at 70.21% and gained .437 strokes on approach. He is a bit short off the tee but makes up for it with accuracy. Hadley didn’t have any top 10s last year but had 3 in 2019 and 7 top 10s in 2018. Hopefully he can rise to the top in a weaker field and at $7,800 he’s a pretty low risk play.
Cameron Percy $7,200 – Cameron Percy has been on the radar for a little bit now and with a T23 (-14) at the Safeway a couple weeks ago and a T8 (-12) this past weekend at the Corales Puntacana, it seems like a good time to pop him into lineups. He was shaky off the tee at the Safeway (no stats from Corales) but great on approach and had a hot putter gaining 1.495 per round. While I don’t expect the putter to stay that hot, he’s played in the Sanderson Farms tournament five times finishing 11th (-14), 34th (-3), 42nd (-5) and 15th (-12) in his last four starts here. In the 2019-2020 season, Percy gained .482 strokes on approach while losing slightly in other areas. He scores well par 4’s and par 5’s while avoiding bogeys and was 30th on tour last year in GIR so he’ll have some birdie looks.

DFS Picks by Tier (DK Pricing)
$10k+ Tier
Scottie Scheffler $11,400 – Scheffler was one of the hottest golfers coming down the stretch last season finishing 2nd at the Tour Championship and 4th at the Northern Trust and PGA Championship. He missed the US Open after testing positive for Covid but he’s back so he should be good to go. With a talent gap like he has on the field this week I won’t go into too much analysis. He’s #1 in our stat model. He’s the best golfer in the field. He should win this week.
$9k Tier
Luke List $9,000 – List is coming off an 8th place finish at Corales last week. He’s long off the tee which should help him here and is also top 15 in the field in SG T2G and ballstriking. He’s in the top third of the field in par 5 scoring and birdie or better percentage. He missed the cut here last year but has a 2nd place finish back in 2017. He’s played well here and is in good form, List is a good option in this range.
$8k Tier
Emiliano Grillo $8,800 – Grillo’s made six straight cuts with a top 5 and top 10 finish during that stretch. Grillo finished 21st last week despite a disappointing Sunday. Grillo ranks top 5 in the field in ballstriking and top 10 in SG T2G. He’s in the top third of the field for birdie or better percent and par 5 scoring. Grillo’s not considered a long hitter but he’ll be just fine off the tee here. Grillo finished 39th here last year so he does have some familiarity with the course
$7k Tier
Cameron Tringale $7,300 – Tringale’s had an up-and-down past few events with a third place finish and DQ mixed in his last four events. Tringale has been hitting the ball well lately and ranks in the top 40 in the field for each key stat this week. He’s 15th in birdie or better percent, top 20 SG T2G and top 25 in ballstriking. He’s made the cut here the last three years and at $7,300 that’s all he’s gotta do. Tringale has upside this week and should be a safer play in this range.
$6k Tier
Adam Schenk $6,700 – Scehnk had one of the biggest drops in pricing this week dropping from $8,500 to $6,700. He shot +3 over the weekend at Corales after a strong start finishing T56. Not a great performance for a guy you pay $8,500 for but the price seems off this week. He’s got the best odds to win out of everyone in the 6k range and has some decent stats. Top 15 in the field in par 5 scoring and top 20 in birdie or better percent. He’s not long off the tee but we’ve seen plenty of shorter hitters play well here.
